The project was born in the context of the Venetian lagoon territory, focusing on the Sacca Matteo in Murano. Here, the idea of the artifact as both a historical testimony and refuse was explored, through which a new memory of the place could be created. Initially, an illegible and unconventional writing system was designed, following Bruno Munari's model, then a coherent alphabet for this creative language was developed, and finally, the entire process was told through a book.

Based on the traces collected, we created an illegible alphabet made up of 12 glyphs.

Graphic experiments
Starting with the bones collected in Murano (Venice), we investigated what traces could be obtained from them. Specifically, we focused on the shapes created by pressing the bones, stained with acrylic paint, onto fabric.

Starting from an illegible alphabet and analyzing the shapes that emerged, we created a legible alphabet. Our main goal was the repetition of elements to achieve visual uniformity.

Book
Each of us designed a book based on the content produced and the process used. It was then printed and hand-bound.
